Clint
Stennett grew up on a small dairy farm and attended schools in Jerome
County. After working as a farm laborer for a few years, he attended the
College of Southern Idaho and graduated from Idaho State University with
a degree in Journalism in 1979.
Later that year, he moved to the Hailey
area to manage the Wood River Journal. In 1985, he became majority
shareholder, president, and publisher of the Journal. He has owned and
operated a number of media properties including newspaper, radio, and
television stations. He is one of the
founders of the First Bank of Idaho located in Ketchum.
In 1990, he was
elected to the Idaho House of Representatives where he served for four
years before being elected to the Idaho State Senate. Completing
his 19th year in the legislature, he currently serves as the Minority
Leader in the Idaho Senate; a position he has held 10 years, the longest
time served in that position.
He is an active outdoorsman, passionate bird hunter, fly-fisherman,
mountain biker and downhill skier. He owns ranches near Shoshone and
in the Pahsimeroi Valley. Clint and his wife, Michelle live in Ketchum.
